... Pause. You hear something.
A comment. A tone. A post.
And suddenly, tight chest, swirling thoughts, rising heat.
It’s easy to blame the messenger.
To shut down. To lash out. To walk away. But if you can pause, just for a breath you might notice something deeper.
That inner reaction isn’t just about them. It’s about you.
Triggers are mirrors. They show us the places inside that are still carrying pain. Old wounds. Unspoken beliefs. Parts of us that haven’t yet felt safe to be held, loved, or released. When you get triggered, you’re not doing something wrong. You’re being given an opportunity. To pause. To sit with what’s surfacing. To witness what needs your attention, not your avoidance. Healing doesn’t always look like peace. Sometimes, it looks like discomfort. But that discomfort is sacred. It’s pointing the way in. It’s saying “Here. Right here. This is where love is needed next".
So the next time your heart flares up in defense, ask yourself: What’s this really about? What inside of me is still hurting, still holding, still needing? And then…Be brave enough to listen
